Periodical Cicada, Magicicada sp

Billions of these insects are singing loudly at the PGT and across Missouri. Under some trees, such as crabapples, it’s so loud that it’s hard to carry on a conversation. I measured 70dB of sound off our back deck. That’s loud!

I guess they’ll be here for a few more weeks. In the meantime, many birds are enjoying the extra food.
