Blue Dasher

Blue Dasher, Pachydiplax longipennis

I found this dragonfly perched on top of a prairie blazing star. He’s not drinking nectar, he’s hunting. He’s waiting for an insect to come within range so he can dart out and grab it. Isn’t he spectacular!

We have dozens of different kinds of dragonflies at the PGT. The best place to find to find them is along the edges of Beaver Lake and at the Lotus Ponds.
