I found a bluebird perched near its nest cavity in a willow tree this week. Eastern Bluebirds declined seriously in many areas with loss of habitat and loss of nesting sites, but they are increasing again, helped by manmade birdhouses.
I’ve put up 53 bluebird houses at the Prairie Garden Trust (PGT) and many of them are in use, but the bluebirds still find natural nesting sites, like this on.
