Burr Oak, Quercus macrocarpa

Walking through one of our tree plantings at the PGT this week, I noticed the acorns on the Burr Oaks. The acorns are huge and have unusual fringed caps.

Even though Bur Oaks are slow growing (about 1 foot per year) we’ve planted hundreds because they are so desirable. They are a gift for future generations.
