Henry out to photograph birds at the PGT
This is typically they way I carry my camera when I go out for a walk to take bird pictures. The 600mm telephoto lens is big enough that it is impossible to use without having it on a tripod.
The technique I often use to get the bird pictures is to walk around until I hear a bird that interests me. Then I will stop and set down the tripod and try to call them in so that I can photograph them. Most of the time it does not work but occasionally I am rewarded with a good look at a beautiful bird.
