Flowering Dogwood

Dogwoods always have good fall color.  Fall hasn’t arrived yet, but I’ve noticed a hint of fall color in a few of their leaves.

Bellflower

On our walks this week I’ve found a few patches of this showy native wildflower in shady spots along creeks. The star-shaped  blue flowers are arranged around tall stalks.

Indian Woodoats

This is one of my favorite native grasses. It’s attractive in all seasons. At the PGT you can find it along paths where there is partial shade.

Violet Wood Sorrel

I found a patch of wildflowers in the woods along the path to the Creek Overlook at the Prairie Garden Trust (PGT).

Columbine

Columbine has started blooming, just in time for the hummingbirds. At the Prairie Garden Trust you can find Columbine along woodland paths and in the garden by the visitor center.
