The Downy is the smallest of the 7 different kinds of woodpeckers at the Prairie Garden Trust. I photographed this one this afternoon while taking a walk around Beaver Lake. It will checking out some old Black Willow trees.
Jen Sieradzki, the PGT’s horticulturist, has plans to make Beaver Lake more appealing in the next couple years. Things like improved trails and expanded plantings. Since it is a short walk from the PGT Visitor center we expect it will get a lot of use.
