Eastern Bluebird nesting in a Black Willow

When exploring the PGT you will see round white boxes mounted on metal fence posts along the trails. These are nest boxes for bluebirds. Bluebirds also nest naturally in tree cavities. I found this male poking his head out of hole in a willow tree along the edge of Beaver Lake.

Bluebirds are the state bird of Missouri.
