The berries of this native shrub are turning red now as the hairy clusters ripen. Wildlife enjoys the fruit and the leaves have some of the best fall color of any shrub. This is an easy plant to grown in your garden, but it’s not widely used; perhaps because the leaves vaguely resemble poison ivy.
The best place to see them at the PGT is along the sidewalks leading to the Lotus Ponds and in the edge of the woods on the west side of Indigo Prairie.
