Gray-headed Coneflower, Ratibida pinnata
There’s a strong showing of Gray-headed Coneflower (Ratibida pinnata) in the prairies at the Prairie Garden Trust right now. I’ve been seeing more blooms than usual this year, likely due to the extra rainfall we’ve had. Their distinctive drooping yellow petals and tall, upright stems stand out clearly against the summer greens and purples.
If you’re nearby, this is a good time for a quiet walk.
