Patches of this wildflower have been blooming for the past month. It is a kind of mint, and the crushed leaves smell like oregano. Many types of insects, including bees, wasps, moths, and butterflies, visit the flowers to drink nectar.

I’m finding it in a wide variety of areas: prairie, woodland edges and savanna. It also by the names Wild Bergamot or Bee Balm.
