The past two days brought the most perfect, sunny, comfortable weather I’ve ever seen for a Missouri June. So we were incredibly fortunate to also have three groups visiting the PGT then. On Friday June 7, the Runge CAMP F.I.R.E. kids took a hike to learn about prairie and also explore Hillers Creek. They’ll be sending some of their own photos later, but I took this one as they gathered before heading afield.

Then last night the Callaway County Master Gardeners came for a stroll past prairie, to the lotus ponds and around Beaver Lake. Several of the group plan to come back on their own for birds, flowers and just being in nature—a happy surprise to find the PGT so close to their Fulton and other nearby homes.

Today, Barb Miltenberger brought coworkers and their families out to explore the PGT.
The kids were hearty hikers and interested in flowers, fossils, feathers and just about anything along the way as they walked with parents down to Hillers Creek. Once there, we explored the 360 million year old coral reef—and of course the frogs, crayfish, minnows and other stream life.
