Pokeweed, Phytolacca americana
This native plant doesn’t get the respect it deserves; it should be used more in gardens. It’s very colorful and not like any other plant I can think of. The stems are intensely magenta, and the dark purple berries are enjoyed by birds.
At the PGT I’ve noticed the fruit is getting ripe. You can find it growing in the old fencerows and near our old barn.
