As the leaves fall off the Possumhaw the bright red berries stand out. This native shrub is also known as deciduous holly.
This week I noticed a Mockingbird guarding the Possum Haw near our barn. I’ve seen them do that through the winter for several years.
At the PGT you can find Possumhaws along many of the trails. One good spot is along the dam of the Lotus Ponds.
