Even though there isn’t much fall leaf color yet, many of the native shrubs and trees have fruit that’s turning bright red. In addition to the Possumhaw seen here, I’m finding red fruit on wild roses, dogwoods, and spicebush.
Possumhaw is also known as deciduous holly.
At the PGT you can find Possumhaws along many of the trails. One good spot is along the dam of the Lotus Ponds.
