Prairie Blazing Star, (Liatris pycnostachya)

Prairie Blazing Star is one of our showiest summer flowers. There are areas in the prairie here with thousands of their 4-foot tall purple spikes. Not only are the flowers dramatic but they also attract many butterflies. They are just starting to flower so I would guess they would be at their peak in two weeks.
