Purple Fringeless Orchid, (Platanthera peramoena)
Walking around Beaver Lake this week I was stunned to see this 3-foot tall orchid near the water on the dam. This orchid is native to Missouri, but only in the Bootheel. That means that Herb (my father and the founder of the PGT) must have planted it over 20-years ago.
