Reindeer Moss isn’t a moss at all. It’s a lichen that forms a pale blue-grey ground cover over rocky areas. In this picture there’s also some dark green moss.
At the PGT you can find Reindeer Moss growing on the sides of the trail going to the rocky bluff that we call The Point. We’ve placed cables to discourage walking on it because once it’s crushed it’s very slow to recover; growing only 3 to 5 mm per year.
