Hibiscus seems like a tropical flower, something that grows in Hawaii. But the flower shown here is a native wildflower in Missouri.   

The best places to find these large white or magenta flowers is along the edge of water. At the Prairie Garden Trust (PGT) you can find it growing at Beaver Lake  and at the Lotus Ponds.
