Smooth Sumac, Rhus glabra

Fall just started, but it will be 3 or 4 weeks before there’s good color in the woods. However, pockets of good color can be found in the understory.

At the PGT a good place to find sumac is on the main path to the Savanna but look for it along any of the paths that get full sun to light shade.
