Spicebush (Lindera benzoin)
It snowed yesterday but I know Spring is here because Spicebush is blooming. On a walk in the Eastern Valley today I found it blooming for the first time this year. Above is a snapshot I took with my iPhone. Spicebush has small yellowish-greenn flowers that occur in clusters along the branches.
Even though it is common I did not notice it for several years. Now that I’ve learned to identify it I am finding it all along our creeks and bottoms.
