Pin Oak Acorns (Quercus palustris)

I was admiring a Pin Oak in front of the PGT Visitor center today and noticed that the acorns were striped. I don’t remember ever noticing that before. The stripes are very attractive.

Pin Oak is one of the 12 different species of oak that occur naturally at the PGT. We have more oaks in our forest than any other kind of tree.
