This is a tall native plant (up to 10’) that has a tropical look to it. The violet blue flowers can be seen now, blooming at the top of tall stalks. 

It likes to have wet feet, so you should look for it along the edges of the lotus ponds and at West Lake here at the Prairie Garden Trust (PGT).
