Any gardener knows that weeding is key to creating a great garden, just as any journalist knows editing is critical to a good story. At the Prairie Garden Trust, we’re in the whacking, weeding, editing phase of landscape care.
Thanks to a generous donation of gallons of concentrated Roundup by Monsanto, we’re ready to zap those aggressive exotic plants that are trying to get a foothold at the PGT.
This is actually the second donation of Roundup from Monsanto and every ounce means a lot for our small organization. If you ever tried to create a native prairie where non-native fescue has taken hold, you, too, would call Roundup your friend. Now that most of the prairie plants are in place, we’ll rely on Roundup to zap the new, evil weeds like reed canary grass. The great thing about Roundup is that it degrades quickly and doesn’t leave a lasting or problematic environmental footprint. It’s a gardener’s helper.
So thanks to Monsanto, we’re ready ready to “whack” away when spring brings green back to the PGT.
