Thistle is a Butterfly Magnet

Phoebis sennae
Cloudless Sulphur, (Phoebis sennae)

To photograph butterflies I first think about what plants they might be feeding on. Each season has it’s dominant flower.
In Spring there are the milkweeds.
In early Summer there is the Prairie Blazing Star.
Mid Summer the thistles are great – (they are very good right now)
In the Fall the New England Asters are a good place to find Monarchs.
