Burning the grassland and the woods is a key part of managing the PGT. Since one of our goals is beauty, we ask our groundskeepers (Matt and Duncan) to look comb the woods for down logs that when they catch fire might damage the trees we want to keep. This is especially a problem with our beautiful flowering dogwoods. They are very susceptible to damage by fire.
