Ornate Box Turtle, (Terrapene ornata ornata)

Three-toed Box Turtle, (Terrapene carolina triunguis)

We have two kinds of box turtles at the PGT and I saw them both while hiking at dawn this morning. The Ornate Box Turtle has yellow radiating lines on it’s shell. The three-toed Box Turtle often has an orange head and front legs like you see here.
