Virginia Creeper

Virginia Creeper, Parthenocissus quinquefolia

The fruits of this native vine are ripening now. You have to look quickly to see them because many types of birds eat them. The leaves will be turning bright red soon.

At the Prairie Garden Trust, you’ll find a few Virginia Creeper vines near the tops of the trees along the edge of the woods. There’s an especially nice one in the Persimmon stand just west of the Lotus Ponds.
