Virginia Creeper Fruit

Virginia Creeper, Parthenocissus quinquefolia

This weekend I noticed ripe berries on Virginia Creeper. The blue fruits of this native vine are attractive, but not edible; at least not to us. However, several kinds of birds, including chickadees and nuthatches eat the berries.

At the Prairie Garden Trust (PGT), you’ll find Virginia Creeper vines near the tops of the trees along the edge of the woods.
