Water on Lotus Leaf

American Lotus, Nelumbo lutea

Walking after a rain shower yesterday I noticed beads of water on the lotus leaves. I’ve read that lotus plants have a waxy surface that causes the water to bead up; it’s called the “lotus effect.”

The lotus flowers at the Prairie Garden Trust (PGT) are still in full bloom. To see them, follow the paved sidewalk to the Lotus Ponds, about a 10-minute walk from the PGT Center.
