Our neighbor Will Marshal called to tell me he saw smoke coming from the PGT this afternoon. I drove over to a remote part of the property (“Round Top”) and found a wildfire slowly creeping across our woods (as you can see in the snapshot above).
It is a hot dry day with winds gusting to 45 mph. This is the time of year and the kind of weather where wildfires start.
We wanted to burn those woods sometime but we never would burn in weather like this. And, we always prepare for our burns by creating fire lines to keep the fire from escaping. Fortunately Hillier’s Creek serves as a fire break to keep this from getting away.
